Can I tell you...about Hong Kong. I go several times a year to check on my samples with the various factories that I work with. It's a long flight but in the end it saves me more time and $$$. Even with all the technology around there's nothing like a face to face meeting. I also love going because the food is fantastic (amazing dimsum at restaurants that don't even have English menus),the shopping is incredible (the Granville Road in Tsim Tsa Tsui and Causeway Bay for all the indie local brands) and the nightlife (Dragon I, Drop and Kee Club) is out of control.
There's an event every night. I have lots of friends who are happy to take me out during my stay and and I'm jetlagged anyway, it's a good excuse to dance the night away. One particularly fun party was hosted by fashion editor Blue Carreon of Hong Kong Tatler. Guests were invited to come as their favorite fashion icon. Naturally I came as MOI.
I was also fortunate to stay at my friend's apartment at the posh Park Side Pacific Place residences. I had access to the gym, the pool, the mall, and a daily cleaning service. What more could you ask for?
Hong Kong was particulary cloudy and rainy during this trip.
Several times I went over to mainland China for the day and was caught in torrential downpours. It reminded me of rainy days in the Philippines and roads would be flooded.
Taking the ferry from Shenzen I took photos of the view and the cargo ships that line the bay. The fog gave everything a surreal, eerie kind of atmosphere. It made me imagine I was entering a ghost city at times.
I couldn't wait to go to Beijing for the weekend. A couple of friends were coming along and I was really relieved because I would have been so "lost in translation".

The last photo of the city and the junk boat are amazing!
You live such a jetset life!! Just be careful and don't end up like Britney or Lindsay or Paris. And ALWAYS, ALWAYS wear your underwear. Nobody needs to see the hoo-hoos and haa-haas in public. :-)
Hong Kong est une superbe ville. Belles photos et les photos de philipinne sont impressionnantes. Bon Weekend

Hey Rafe,
Looks like you really had a good time in HK and was well looked after. Can't wait for your photos of Beijing, I've always wanted to visit.
BTW, are your bags sold anywhere in Perth?
no one ever says NO to HK :)
that rain is incredible...wow.
also, love the fact that you went as yourself, very cool.
your bags are delicious too!!
Hong Kong and Rafe Bags, both amazing. You've made me hungry, I must go eat not-as-glam-Chinatown Dim Sum now.
That rain looks pretty rough.
The last picture is really amazing! Hong Kong is such an exciting place to go. It's so very different from USA or Europe. Like the blog!
Loved the re-cap, HK is the one place I haven't been.
HK is awesome! I bought two pairs of the best boots ever from a tiny little shoe store there. One really amusing thing I came across when clothes shopping there though, was not being allowed to try my chosen items on before deciding to purchase them or not. This happened on about 3 or 4 occasions. I'd never come across that before. Didn't stop me from shopping to my hearts content though!! ;o)
nice photos and it looks like you really enjoy what you do and where you go. you're an inspiration to me. keep up the great work and this blog because I read it every week!
you keep us wanting more each week. can't wait to see what you'll write about your trip to Minneapolis. It was such a pleasure to hear you speak and know that you are such a genuine person. you deserve to be successful.
Looks like you had a good time in HK. The photos are great!
Beijing is next right? Can't wait to see your photos and read your post. Keep 'em coming! What an exciting, action packed life you lead!
Yes, putting up Beijing next. Thanks for your patience but I do have a full time job so sorry if I'm running a bit behind with my postings. Not whining, just stating the facts. I appreciate all the comments and encouragement though. It's nice to know there are people out there who actually look forward to reading my next post. Keeps me going.
I'll have to ask you for travel advice if I ever go to HK. It's on my list.
