Can I tell you...about Sophie's 40th Birthday bash. Last October 29, my dear friend Sophie Albou, who founded the chic French brand Paul & Joe hosted one of the most fabulous birthday parties I've ever attended. I was just in Paris a week before for the fabric and leather shows when she invited me so I was hesitant to come back a week later. I realized this was a once in a lifetime invitation. Sophie wouldn't take no for an answer so she sent me the ticket...what excuse could I possibly have after that?
The idea of going to Paris for the weekend just sounded ...too glamorous to resist, n'est pas? Now I can cross that off my list. Been there, done that.
She chose the new restaurant Mini Palais right across the Petit Palais for the entire evening, complete with a big band and several singers belting out her favorites from Barry White, Barbara Streisand and Serge Gainsbourg.
Guests were greeted at the entrance with a red carpet and 'fans' screaming your name as you walked down. Bulbs flashed and a TV crew stopped you for a quick interview. We were all celebs that evening. It was all too hilarious and tongue-in-chic.
The hors d'oeuvres kept coming and the Champagne flowed, mais oui bien sur. We had fish for dinner which was so smart because it allowed everybody to dance the night away. Can't do that after a steak au poivre, can you?
I had a such a fantastic time hanging out with her family and friends, all who I've come to know over the years. It was a grand yet intimate affair.
As you can see from the photos, we all had a blast and we partied like it was 1999.
Sophie, merci beaucoup mon amour! Bonne Anniversaire!
